About this property
Nestled in close proximity to the Baa Atoll UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, the InterContinental Maldives Maamunagau Resort is located on a picturesque private island 152 kms north of Velana International Airport in the Raa Atoll. Our private island escape is an explorer’s delight with a myriad of diverse marine life including manta rays and dolphins that frequent our lagoon. A short 45-minute by speedboat, guests can swim among the largest known population of manta rays at Hanifaru Bay, one of the few places in the world where whale sharks congregate to mate. Upon arrival, our guests are greeted by the resort’s Airport Representatives before being whisked away to our dedicated lounge at the seaplane terminal to await a 35-minute scenic seaplane journey to the resort. Guests arriving to Velana International Airport after 3.30 pm will be escorted to the domestic flight terminal prior to their 20-minute domestic flight to Dharavandoo Domestic airport where they will embark on a 35-minute speedboat transfer to the resort.
