Sea Containers London

Situated in the vibrant South Bank area on London's Cultural Mile within iconic Sea Containers. Sea Containers London has 354 Rooms, Suites and Apartments, many with London and River Thames views and outside space. This was the first hotel to be designed by renowned British designer, Tom Dixon. One of the reasons Dixon won the bid for Mondrian London was because he really kept to the sea faring heritage of the building. He has used a lot of his influence from Warren Platner, who was the original designer of Sea Containers (famous for Windows of the World in the World Trade Centre and his Cruise Ship design which later became the inspiration for 12th Knot). Some of Platner’s furniture is still sold by Knoll Design and to keep to the building’s heritage, Tom Dixon has used the Platner chairs in some of the hotel’s suites and in the Den (including the grey wired chairs in Dandelyan/Lyaness and the Den). Tom Dixon is also responsible for the copper and brass seen throughout the building as one of his signature metals to work with (Copper = Tom Dixon’s signature materials / Brass = Platner’s signature material). As the years progressed Jacu ___ who worked closely with Tom Dixon became lead design within the hotel and is not responsible for all the design aspects seen throughout the building including Lyaness, 12th Knot, Sea Containers Restaurant, also designing our brand new Cabin Suites. He is now the Creative Director for Lore Group.
